Ref: Shelter

The Shelter is a convenient and safe product for going out with your baby. In the car seat, you can use the Shelter as a wrap cape instead of a jacket or blanket. Once you arrive at your destination, you fasten the safety clasp and you have a baby sling. Once your child is too large to be carried horizontally and can sit upright, you can use the Shelter as a hip carrier.

Safety

The Shelter complies with the European Norm: EN13209-2:2005 standard for baby slings.

- What can I use the Shelter for?

The Shelter is a multifunctional baby sling and wrap cape for the car seat in one. You can use the Shelter as a baby sling immediately after birth until the age of around 5 months. Once your child is able to sit upright, you can use the Shelter as a hip carrier (until approximately 18 months/12 kg). Additionally, until 12 months, the Shelter can be used as a comfortable wrap cape for in the car seat instead of a jacket or blanket.

From what age can you use the Shelter?

The Shelter can be used directly after birth (minimum weight 3.5 kg) as a baby sling and from the moment your child can sit upright until around 18 months (12 kg) as a hip carrier. The Shelter can also be used as a wrap cape for in the car seat until around the first year.

- What are the draw strings for on the bottom of the Shelter?

Using the draw strings, the shape of the Shelter can be easily adjusted and be made bigger or smaller. This way you always have the best fit for your baby when you use the Shelter as a baby sling. From the very first day you can therefore already carry your little one against your chest. When your child grows, you can loosen the draw strings.

- Why do I carry my baby in a horizontal position (foetal position) in the Shelter?

A newly born baby should be carried in a foetal position during the first few months. During the first 3 to 4 months of the baby's life, its head puts too much load on the baby's neck and back. By carrying the child in a horizontal/foetal position the body is optimally supported. The baby feels safe and comfortable in the foetal position and because of the direct contact with the parent.

- If I use the Shelter as a baby sling, do I still need to support my baby?

No, you do not need to give your baby extra support.

- Why do the security belts of the car seat go over the Shelter and not under/through the fleece/cotton?

Our products are tested extensively with regard to safety and comfort by renowned testing organisations. According to the safety regulations, in the event of an accident you must be able to remove your child from the car seat in two operations. Unlocking the safety belt is the first operation and removing your child from the car seat is the second operation. The Shelter therefore complies with the security regulations (EN:13209-2:2005 norm for baby slings), because the safety belts of the car seat are fastened over the Shelter.

Can the Shelter be used with any car seat?

The Shelter can be used with all car seats with a 3- and 5- point safety harness. This is possible because the safety belts close over the Shelter.

- My baby slides down in the Shelter, will he suffocate in this way?

If your baby slides down in the Shelter, you must tighten the draw strings located at the bottom of the Shelter in order to adjust the fit of the carrier to your baby.

You do not have to worry that your child will suffocate in the Shelter because the material is highly permeable to air. By way of a test, you can try blowing through the fleece/cotton fabric.

Knights & Fairies Collectie

These Shelters have the same colours as the Wrappers in the Knights & Fairies Collection and are characterised similar to the Folklore Collection by embroidered patterns on the inside and an embossed outside.

Tough Denim collection

The rugged Tough Denim collection combines cotton denim with comfortable polyester fleece. The collection is finished with cheeky, authentic denim details, such as the use of extra thick topstitch thread, red decorative stitching, jeans pockets and a real leather jacron with Lodger logo.
