 Portable Foods | |
| Warm conditions encourage the growth of bacteria so it is essential to keep snacks cool especially if you have included cooked meats. Use a small insulated bag or freeze a carton of orange juice and pack this with sandwiches to keep them cool, the orange will be defrosted by lunchtime to drink with the sandwiches. |
| Snack food and drinks
Your toddler has a much faster metabolism and consequently a more frequent need for little snacks to stabilize his blood sugar levels. Once he has announced he is hungry feed him or he will become irritable, he is not yet capable of waiting patiently for the flight attendant to serve lunch. Nutritious high protein, high fibre snacks such as crackers with peanut butter*, cheesy bread animals or wholemeal sandwiches with cream cheese and mashed avocado fillings, rather than sweets or chocolate. Remember sugar = instant energy = disaster, especially when flying! If you are flying in the United States flights of less than three hours duration rarely provide a proper meal.
Ensure your child drinks plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Feeding on the Move

| Camera and Plenty of Film
Don't forget your camera or camcorder and plenty of film to capture your family enjoying themselves!
In certain countries film may be expensive, hard to find or out of date. Always take spare batteries for your camera as these can also be difficult to find and don't forget any battery chargers you may need for your flash or camcorder batteries - also remembering an appropriate mains adapter plug! |
