Children Letting Off Some Steam

After being cooped up in a car, aircraft and stroller all day toddlers need to be let loose, especially if they are new walkers and keen to practice their new skills.

Make sure that you plan your journey to allow enough time to make plenty of stops on the way if possible, before you get on an aircraft, train etc, and certainly when you arrive at your destination let your toddler run off some steam and use up some pent-up energy before bed time.

Establish a routine

Keeping your toddlers nap and meal times perfectly on schedule may be impossible but he will be happier if you establish a routine. Eating and taking naps at the same time each day may be all he needs to feel comfortable in his new environment.

Toddlers are happiest earlier in the day, so plan to sightsee or explore in the morning, short trips not too far from your holiday accommodation are best so as not to overwhelm your toddler and give you the opportunity to get back quickly if he needs a nap or the weather changes.

Leave the afternoons and early evenings for playing outdoors and relaxing at your holiday accommodation.

Your evening routine should be as similar to that of home as possible.
